There is no evidence of any adverse environmental effects resulting from water fluoridation.

The chemicals used for water fluoridation are manufactured as a co-product of the manufacture of phosphate fertilizers, the raw material for which is a natural resource (rocks excavated for their mineral content).

Therefore, since water fluoridation ensures maximum utilization of these natural resources, and reduces waste, it could accurately be described as environmentally friendly.
